GoodBye January

It's the last day of January. How time flies so fast isn't. I thought we're still in the mood of new year 2011. But the fact is we will celebrating Chinese New Year in a few days. Well, for me nothing much to do today as well as this week. My colleagues start taking leave already and most of them will be on leave this week until next week. I didn't take any leave because i want to save my annual leaves..hehe..

Well, for this Chinese New Year celebration, i guess we don't go anywhere. Just stay at home, perhaps visiting my parents and parents in-law. My parents in-law also don't have any plans for the holiday. Meanwhile my parents are planning that my younger brother's birthday celebration will be conducted on the 1st day of CNY as most of us is on leave that day as it is public holiday. The exact date of his birthday is tomorrow which is 1st February.

So, that's it. We will celebrating my bro's birthday on 1st day of CNY and  of course that would make our family to gather again of at the very 1st week of the month of February.

That's it for now.
How about you?.. Any plans for the holiday?.. I am sure you must have one. :)

Take care.

Kristen Stewart As 'Snow White'

Kristen Stewart

So it seems that after wrapping up the last chapter to the ever-so-popular Twilight Saga series, Kristen Stewart may very well trade in vampire and werewolve boyfriends for seven little dwarfs. Yes, apparently, Kristen is in talks to portray the fairytale princess, Snow White!

In the Universal Pictures retelling of the classic fairytale, Snow White and the Huntsman will have more back-story to Eric, the bounty hunter sent by the evil queen Ravenna to hunt down Snow White. Eventually, Eric refuses to kill the princess and instead, tags along as her mentor.

While Kristen may be one of the leading actresses on the list to get the princess’ role, however, others also on the list include Riley Keough, Felicity Jones and Alicia Vikander.

Besides the lead role, Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron have also been rumoured to be in negotiations to play the huntsman, Eric, and the evil queen respectively. Rupert Sanders will be on the director’s chair.

What do you think? Is Kristen Stewart the fairest of ‘em all?

Stella says:
Wow.. it's fit. I think Kristen Stewart is the fairest of them all..hehe..
Her smooth and fair face would suits with the 'Snow White' character. I am sure to watch the movie if she become the leading actress..:)

Which BODY SHAPE Are You?

About the Apple body shape
If you are the Apple of someone’s eye then you’re pretty in proportion but tend to carry your weight around your mid section without a well-defined waist. You may also have fabulous legs and/or boobs so dressing is all about showing off those best bits and avoiding adding volume round your middle.

Bring out your best: Empire line and longer length tops will flatter your figure. Go for low-ish necklines to draw the eye upwards.

Best to avoid: Short, boxy jackets and pleated or tiered skirts are not your friends. Cast them out now and feel forever better.

About the Pear body shape
If you are a bottom-heavy beauty and are bigger around the hips, bottom or thighs than you are up top then, like the majority of women, you are a Pear! You’ve probably also got a fairly flat stomach you lucky thing. Work that womanly figure by adding more shape and structure above the waist.

Bring out your best: Balance out your curvy bottom half with bold bright tops or tops with large collars, lapels or sleeves.

Best to avoid: Tube, pencil and fishtail skirts, especially tight-fitting ones will only emphasise your hips and behind.

About the Hourglass body shape
Curvy hourglass girls go in at the middle, often with a fuller bust and bottom to contrast with the smaller waist. You’re blessed with a very sexy shape so you need to learn not to drown it in too-baggy clothes but also not go too overtly sexy either - unless that’s the look you’re going for!

Bring out your best: Wrap dresses, waist-cinching belts and flared or wide leg jeans will work wonders. Not necessarily all at once.

Best to avoid: Shapeless baggy jumpers will hide your wonderful waist. Unless you add that magic belt of course!

About the Rectangle/Tube body shape
Rectangle ladies are fairly straight up and down though don’t always have the boyish chest to match. Many women would kill for your shape; there’s no main area you want to minimize so you can get away with more things than most. However you may crave more curves – an illusion easily created with the right clothing.

Bring out your best: A structured coat that cinches in with a belt will make you look more curvy. If you’ve a small bust you can get away with tricky to wear high-necked tops.

Best to avoid: Low rise jeans and trousers can make your torso look too long. Stay away from sheath dresses and stick to styles with more shape instead.

So, which body shape are you?..
I am in 'Pear' category, therefore i should avoid tight fitting skirt..haha! Perhaps i should work out frequently to add more shape and structure above my waist.. hehe!

That's it for now. See you again.
Have a blessed Thursday.. :)

10 Best Natural Teeth Whitening Tips

In the past when you wanted white teeth you would have to go to your dentist because that was the only way to get teeth whitening, usually with corrosive tooth bleach. Although bleach preparations have improved they can still be harsh. Today there are many ways to whiten your teeth; however most of them involve dangerous chemicals that may be able to seep through the delicate tissues in your mouth, under the tongue. You can avoid the potential problems, from whitening your teeth, that you might get from chemical exposure through tooth bleaching and whitening products, kits, strips, gels and systems.

There are a few natural ways to whiten your teeth or prevent them from discoloring and a form of natural bleaching in some cases. In this article I'll list a few tips for natural treatments you can do at home.

1. First of all the obvious one of making regular appointments for cleaning your teeth is first on the list. Many people let this slide but it's important to not only get on a regular schedule with the dentist's office setting up future appointments but also having them call and remind you to come in. Once you get on a schedule of once or twice a year then you will find you don't need to worry about whiter teeth as often, except if you smoke.

2. Make sure to brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day. Make sure to floss at bedtime and use a cheap gum massager to get under the gum flap. You want to prevent the buildup of plaque, which can discolor your teeth. Focusing on your teeth will help you prevent some staining of your teeth.

You want to avoid getting plaque as much as possible. Carry floss with you. And floss discreetly when eating out. At home you can floss while you watch TV if you seem to not get around to it after meals. But make sure to floss at bedtime because you have six to nine hours or more while you're sleeping when the bacteria can go to work on the enamel. Make sure to rinse your mouth after eating.

3. Avoid drinking water with any added fluoride or using toothpaste with fluoride as it's been reported that it can discolor or stain your teeth. Also many other countries have banned fluoride in their drinking water due to diseases and symptoms that have been connected with it.

4. If you smoke, try to cut down as much as possible and of course it's better for your health to quit smoking altogether as you no doubt know. Smokers have a more difficult time keeping their teeth white than non-smokers so you may have to work harder at it.

5. Coffee and tea are notorious for causing teeth staining. Make sure to sip or rinse your mouth with water while you're drinking coffee or tea and after you're done. Colas and wine can also cause stains on the teeth.

6. Some fruits such as strawberries are excellent tooth whiteners. Strawberries can be rubbed on the teeth or mashed up in a paste and brushed on. Leave on the teeth for five minutes. Rinse well.

You can use the inside of an orange peel which is also good for whitening. You can rub the peel right on your teeth, or take organic dried orange peel and ground bay leaves and make a paste and brush it on. Some people swear by a lemon juice and salt mixture too. In any case make sure to rinse your mouth well after using these natural tooth whitening treatments.

7. Baking soda has long been used for dental whitening. Many types of toothpaste have baking soda in their ingredients because of its effectiveness. You can make your own baking soda whitener though. Just mix baking soda with a little salt - a good cheap teeth whitening home remedy.

8. Avoid using mouthwashes. Besides alcohol they contain other chemicals that can stain or discolor teeth. They can easily absorb through the delicate tissues under your tongue and be absorbed into your system. One well-known mouthwash was reported recently to actually discolor the teeth with brown stains.

9. Drinks lots of water. Rinse your mouth thoroughly after every meal or snack to make sure no food residue is sticking to your teeth.

10. Try to eat a better diet with lots of raw foods - fruits and veggies. Make huge salads. Avoid fast food and processed food as much as possible. Avoid constant snacking. All of this will help give you brighter, whiter teeth with fewer cavities.

Teeth whitening by using natural treatments will prevent exposure to harsh chemicals. Natural whitening is cheap and almost free in most cases. You can have a winning smile without hurting the tissues in your mouth and damaging the enamel on your teeth.

That's it for today. Have a healthy Wednesday.. :)

Lose Weight By Eating Ice Cream??

Hot new research reveals that ice cream, when eaten as part of a healthy diet, may actually melt away fat, helping you lose weight quicker than if you abstained! Plus a dish a day helps you get healthier in other ways according to Marsha Hudnall's book, THE ICE CREAM DIET.
But before you head out for a couple of gallons of ice cream remember that too much can find it's way to the hips, belly and other unwanted places.

One of the key benefits of ice cream is that it may satisfy your cravings better than any other food. "When we tell ourselves we can't have something, we immediately focus our attention on what's forbidden, which increases our desire and chances of losing control," says Marsha Hudnall, RD, of Green Mountain at Fox Run, a "non-diet" weight control spa.

A key benefit of ice cream is the calcium it provides. Only 4% of women over 50 meet the daily 1,200 mg goal. The average female calcium intake is only 652 mg. Less than one third of men reach these same goals.

Calcium is also ice cream's "secret" slim down ingredient. In a recent study, overweight people who took a calcium supplement lost 38% more body fat than those who ate the same reduced-calorie diet without the supplement.

How does calcium help you lose? A diet low in calcium shuts down your body's fat burning ability, say experts. When your body doesn't get enough calcium, it triggers fat cells to store fat and get bigger.

So, how much ice cream is "reasonable?" The guideline is a one-half cup serving of no more than 125 calories. My personal favorite is Bryers No Sugar Added Vanilla. It has only 120 calories per 1/2 cup and the flavor reminds me of the "good old days" when we took turns cranking the six quart ice cream freezer full of moms special recipe. Ummm good.

Stella says:
Wow!..it's a good news for me..haha.. I love ice-cream.. Don't you?
Never heard of that ice-cream can melt away body fat.. and of course we should take it in moderation amount to show the lose weight effect.. :)

Benefits of Soy Milk

As the taste of commercial soy milk improves more and more people are drinking it as enjoyment. But many people drink soy milk for the added health benefits. So what are the benefits of drinking soy milk as compared to cow’s milk?

Benefit 1: Soy milk contains only vegetables proteins
Vegetable proteins have the advantage that they cause less loss of calcium through the kidneys. It is known that a diet rich in animal (and dairy protein) creates a higher risk for osteoporosis.

Benefit 2: Soy milk contains no lactose
About 75 percent of the world population cannot tolerate lactose. Some ethnic groups are more affected than others. For example 75 percent of Africans and 90 percent of Asians have lactose intolerance. As an additional benefit, soy milk contains the prebiotic sugars stachyose and raffinose. These prebiotic sugars boost immunity and help decrease toxic substances in the body.

Benefit 3: Fewer people are allergic to soy milk
Only 0.5 percent of the children are allergic to soy milk, whereas 2.5 percent is allergic to cow’s milk.

Benefit 4: Soy milk reduces cholesterol
The saturated fats in cow’s milk are unhealthy and increase your cholesterol. The protein in cow’s milk has no benefits for the cholesterol. Soy protein can decrease cholesterol levels. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration of US) confirms that soy protein, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may significantly reduce the risk of coronary heart. The FDA recommends to incorporate 25 grams of soy protein in your daily meals.

Benefit 5: Soy milk contains no hormones
Cow’s milk contains natural hormones (from the cow) but also synthetic hormones, which can influence the good working of our own body. The synthetic hormone rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone) increase milk production by as much as 20 percent.

Benefit 6: Soy milk does not cause insulin dependent diabetes
Although no general consensus exists among scientists, some studies have shown an association between drinking cow's milk in early life and the development of insulin dependent diabetes. This association does not exist with soy milk.

Benefit 7: Soy milk is rich in isoflavones
The presence of isoflavones is the most important and unique benefit of soy milk. Each cup of soy milk contains about 20 mg isoflavones (mainly genistein and daidzein). Cow’s milk does not contain isoflavones. Isoflavones have many health benefits including reduction of cholesterol, easing of menopause symptoms, prevention of osteoporosis and reduction of risk for certain cancers (prostate cancer and breast cancer). Incidents of these cancers are very low in countries with high intake of soy products, including soy milk. Isoflavones are also antioxidants which protect our cells and DNA against oxidation.

I love soy milk. I am not really a milk drinker, but i love soy milk.. :)

Honey and Lemon for Weight Loss?

Going on a honey and lemon diet can help relieve you of your weight problem. Obesity is the physical condition of the body when excessive deposition of fat takes place in the tissues, putting a strain on the heart, kidneys, liver and the joints such as the hips, knees and ankles and thus, overweight people are susceptible to several diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, liver and gall bladder disorders.

Honey is an excellent natural home remedy for obesity and lowering of cholesterol levels. It mobilizes the extra deposited fat in the body allowing it to be utilized as energy for normal functions. Fasting on honey and lemon-juice, an alkaline food, is highly beneficial in the treatment of obesity without the loss of energy and appetite.

* For this natural cure , mix one teaspoon of raw honey (unheated) with the juice of two teaspoons of lime or lemon juice in a glass of room temperature or lukewarm water (not boiling water!).

* Take this remedy once in the morning on a empty stomach. Commonly taken after a big and oily meal, this simple delicious tonic is an effective digestive and detox tonic.

*And of course, in every successful weight loss program, do bear in mind that principles such as forming healthy eating habits and diets, and keeping to a regular exercise regime over the long run are extremely important as well.

Stella says:
So, for those who always love honey lemon, this is a good news for you.. :)

How to Stay Energetic at Office

While working in office it really becomes very important to stay active and energetic as it really affects your performance and your working capability which has a direct impact on your job. So it is very important to take care of yourself so that you can stay fit and healthy and perform your job properly.

You can face lots of health problems like stress both physical and mental, back pain, dehydration and other. As we work for long hours we don’t really care about drinking water or eating something healthy. So this causes lots of problems like dehydration, sudden weight loss or sudden weight gain and backache. You can do lots of things to prevent these physical and mental problems caused due to over working or working for long hours.

How to Stay Energetic at Office:-

Snacking or Munching: It is very important to eat something healthy while working in office. Keep eating small amount of food products after short duration of time as it keeps you energetic. Instead of munching on biscuits and chips go for healthy fruits like apple and banana or vegetable salad. Dry fruits are also a very healthy option. Granola bars can also be taken as snacks as it contains lots of dry fruits which provides instant energy.

Water Therapy: While working in office we sit in air conditioner for very long duration of time and we feel very comfortable. We don’t realize when we are thirsty which causes dehydration. It can make you feel tired and stressful. So it is very important to drink ample amount of water. It is very important to replace soda and canned juice with water as it provides you all the essential nutrients.

Avoid Heavy and Fried Foods: During lunch time in office avoid eating heavy food items. Avoid eating rice and potatoes in excess as it will make you feel uncomfortable and sleepy. So it is important to eat a light and healthy diet like fruit salad or sandwich or juice. You can also opt for herbal tea in place of hot coffee.

Stella says:
Really need this. Feel unenergetic lately.

I am no longer a Sagittarius

Ok, i want to share this before i post about the part 2 of my trip in Kuching.

I found out this trough internet yesterday that now our zodiac have 13 signs. Before this we are just referring to 12 signs. Professor Parke Kunkle of the Minnesota Planetarium Society revealed this matter and said the Zodiac had a problem with the dates. The Earth aligned differently today than it was in 3000 BC, and we’ve also been leaving the constellation Ophiuchus out of the equation. So, he added them back in, and told the world about it.

Somehow he said, astronomers have ignored this 13th sign long time ago. This matter has fuss the whole world that everyone now has change it's sign.

However some of the astronomers have a conflict fact about this issue. The as said the 13th sign of zodiac, Ophiuchus is not a zodiac sign.

Well, let us see the new Zodiac signs dates. See whether your sign is changing or not.

New Zodiac Signs Dates:
ARIES : APRIL 19 - MAY 13
TAURUS : MAY 14 - JUNE 19

SAGITTARIUS : DECEMBER 18 - JANUARY 18
CAPRICORN : JANUARY 19 - FEBRUARY 15
AQUARIUS : FEBRUARY 16 - MARCH 11
PISCES : MARCH 12 - APRIL 18

And here are the old Zodiac sign dates:-
Aquarius: Jan 20 – Feb 18
Pisces: Feb 19 – March 20
Aries: March 21 – April 19
Taurus: April 20 – May 20
Gemini: May 21 – June 20
Cancer: June 21 – July 22
Leo: July 23 – August 22
Virgo: August 23 – Sept 22

Kuching Trip: Day 2 (Part 1)

The second day of the trip, we went for Kuching City.Wandered here and there by ourselves. The van driver told us that the historical building is not just far from each other. There are just in one place. You just need to walk few distance only. Therefore, he dropped us at the Kuching Waterfront and we were exploring the Kuching city by ourselves. And it's fun hehe..

At our room veranda back at the resort..
Ready for breakfast before go for walking around Kuching city

Ok, breakfast-ing.. to gain energy for walk..hehe

After about 30 minutes journey from Damai Puri resort, we reached here.
The Kuching Waterfront

Behind us the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak called "Astana" which means "palace" in the local dialect and were constructed in1870 for newly married of the second Rajah of Sarawak, Charles Brooke.

Behind us the "Fort Margherita Building". It was build by Charles Brooke in 1879 and named it after his wife "Margaret". It was built as defence line against pirates.

How relaxing.. Duduk-duduk baca paper di waterfront..

 Still at waterfront area

Main Bazaar at Kuching's oldest street. You can shop for souvenir around here at more cheap price. I noticed they still maintaining the old buildings rather than to replace it to a new one. Most of them were built from James Brooke era.

Kuching Waterfront Bazaar. The place where you can shop for souvenirs but slightly expensive than at the Kuching's oldest street shops.

Mee Jawa. I was so hungry while walking here and there, so we stopped a while at this shop (forgot already the named of the coffee shop) located at the main bazaar area. I decided to ordered this, while hubby want to find for Mee Kolo at other coffee shop later. So, he let me eat first.  The taste not really nice haha..

Ok, this is Chinese History Museum. It was built in 1912 used as a court by Chinese community until 1921. This museum was officially opened in 1993. Interesting place to visit because there's a lot of history information here about immigration of Chinese to Sarawak. The entrance fee for this museum is free.

 Inside the Chinese History Museum

Still inside the Chinese History Museum. Can you see "HAKKA" there? It clarifies that how they immigrated in Borneo and what were their main activities while in Borneo.

An info about the Chinese immigration. Click at the pic for full view.
Mee Kolo. His lunch menu of the day.
