Food Lover..

Hi fellow bloggers,
How is your Friday?.. Hope all went well.
Today i'm going to post some food stuff here.. Yes, for all food lover out there. Remember that I did mentioned about Upperstar and a nice coffee shop at Jln Bundusan in my post on the last week of September?.. I promised to blog it out and today is the day.. :)

I always love Western food other than Chinese food. I love grilled chicken. I found that Upperstar grilled chicken
really tasty and the price also worth it. Whenever i feel like want to have some western food, i'll have myself at Upperstar Restaurant. As far as i know, there are 3 branches of Upperstar Restaurant in Kota Kinabalu itself. I don't know if there's any outside KK. The 3 branches are at Lintas, Damai and Kota Kinabalu city. For me, i always have my western food at Upperstar,Damai. Since, Damai is a bit peaceful because it's not as crowded as at Lintas and KK is quite far from my home compared to Damai.

Upperstar offers various type of food. From Western to Malaysian food. So, if you are not really into Western food, don't worry. You can always have nasi lemak, chicken curry with white rice and etc. Because i experienced this myself when i brought the whole family here to celebrate my brother's birthday. I found out my dad asked me, " Sini ada yang nasi ka?.. ( Is rice available here? ).." and then luckily there is chicken curry with white rice stated in menu and once again i found out my youngest sister also ordered for a meal with rice. Thank GOD.. :) I really want them having fun and happy with the food. Because it was the 1st time they came to Upperstar. And yes, they did. :)

Meanwhile, another favourite place is a nice coffee shop at Jln Bundusan. Previously it was located at Bukit Padang. They moved to Jln Bundusan starting last year. I don't know what to call the shop as it doesn't has specific name. But this food shop really famous with its 'Bihun sup isi ikan' ( Fish Noodle Soup ). I always have my lunch here with my dear. And he knows my favourite food so well, 'bihun sup isi ikan' plus 'kit chai ping'.. haha.. :)

Here are some photos for you to view at. Photos taken at several restaurants that I'd been in KK and Penampang.

Talking about food, i found myself gained so much weight already. Maybe because it's too much of western food hahaha.. and of course not only that..maybe I am taking too much dessert too since i love dessert so much. My favourite list are chocolate, pudding and ice- cream. I really love all those sweet food!!. Well, no wonder i gained weight.. hmmm.. Need too lose some weight now. I miss my old weight.. haha..

In order to lose some weight, i try to find some clue from internet. I think i need to workout my abs and thigh area . I found several info about the effective workouts for flat abs. I will share about this on my next post.. :)

Till then have a pleasant evening.

See u again soon.. :)

True 1Malaysia exists in Sabah

HOW many Malaysians have been to Sabah?

I have been to several cities like Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau and several other small towns several times and I always get the same feeling: people there are seriously united.

They communicate with each other in Bahasa Malaysia, with a heavy accent ending with a “bah”.

Even though they are Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans or others, they speak similarly.

To those who have never set foot there, I suggest you plan a holiday there instead of to other countries and I can assure you it will be worthwhile.

Born in Penang, later educated in Kuala Lumpur and working in Johor Baru, I got used to the fact that if I wanted food, I will go to a “Mamak” restaurant, Malay restaurant or any fast food outlet.

Chinese or Indian restaurants won’t cross my mind as the food there is not “halal”.

I could remember the very first time I went to Sabah, it was time for breakfast and my friend, a Sabahan and also a Muslim, brought me to this typical Chinese looking restaurant which we normally see in the peninsula.

Over here, it is obvious that I, as a Muslim, won’t be able to eat the food there because of the “halal” factor.

But to my surprise, the patrons there in that restaurant were mostly Muslims. The food served was normal “nasi lemak”.

I was quite skeptical at first and when I tried to get an assurance from the owner himself, he proudly said: “We Sabahans understand each other well.”

Thinking that the morning scene in the Chinese restaurant was a coincidence, I suggested to have lunch in another Chinese restaurant.

True enough, the scenario was the same: most of the patrons were Muslims.

At night, it was time for a “feel” of the night life in Tawau and we went to a popular “dangdut” outlet.

Again, I was surprised to see many Chinese there.

In Peninsular Malaysia, “dangdut” outlets are normally filled with Malays.

When it comes to food, Sabahans have shown us the true meaning of unity in terms of a simple meal.

Whether it is breakfast, lunch, dinner or even supper, they are united as a people and they eat at a same table.

We sometimes just forget the basics of being a truly united nation.

It is so easy to slur another person, another religion or another race on various websites these days, but is this what we want to do as a responsible citizen?

I feel the way to understand 1Malaysia is by starting to look at how Sabahans live.

HALIM CHEW,
Kajang.

3 Must-Go-Places..

Hi there,
It's Monday again. And we are entering the 2nd week of October. I had a relaxing and memorable moment on last weekend. Thanks to dear one for the surprises. The surprises really made my weekend unforgettable..
I'll blog out about that soon.. ;)

Okay, as promised on my last post, today's post will be about the 3 places that I named it must-visit-place or you can call it must-go-place in Sabah. Because, you can visit this place for a day trip or have a stay at one of this places will be a great getaway too.. :) The 3 places are Kinabalu Pine Resort, Dream World Resort and Desa Cattle. You can find these places all in Kundasang where it takes about 2 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu.

It was last September, where me and dear one as well as the in-laws decided to have a weekend getaway at Kundasang. I always love Kundasang because of the cool breeze that are really different from KK. We decided to stay at Kinabalu Pine Resort because Mount Kinabalu can be seen here while the rate is affordable. We went there a week before Hari Raya holiday because Pine Resort was fully booked for Hari Raya. After all, it was actually a last minute plan, because we booked for Pine resort only 3 days before we went there.

Kinabalu Pine resort is a perfect place to stay at Kundasang if you wanted to have a nice, cozy, relaxing weekend and affordable rate. The standard range is between Rm160-Rm190 on weekend (rate will differ depends on any promotion). And rate included breakfast for 2 persons. The surrounding landscape absolutely beautiful. There's a platform provided where you can view the whole scenery of Mount Kinabalu clearly. You have to wake up as early as 5am to view the majestic mountain before it embraces by clouds. So don't forget to bring your camera to catch up some memorable Mount Kinabalu's view here. Bbq facilities also provided. Bring your marinated food and have some fun and relaxing moment while spending time with your loved ones while bbq-ing.. :)

We stayed at Kinabalu Pine Resort for a night. The next day, after check out at around 11am, we went to DreamWorld Resort. It takes only 15-20 minutes to reached the place. We didn't stay here but only intended to have a sight seeing before we lead our journey back to KK. I fall in love with this place. The scenery absolutely fantastic. No wonder they call it a place amidst the clouds because you can see this place surrounded by clouds as like you are on the top of the world. :) Click here for the chalet's rate and review.

Welcoming October..

Yes, it's the 1st day of October and this is the very 1st post of the month.
And for me, today would be the last day of working days of the week. How I am grateful that tomorrow is a public holiday (For Sabah State Only) since our office working days are from Monday-Saturdays. Well, at least there's no need for me to wake up so early in the morning for office tomorrow hehe..

As today is the beginning of a new month, I've been thinking of welcoming the new month with warm heart. Planning that all things would be in right place and running smoothly. Eventhough some of you might feel today is just another day, date and drama.. Well, for me it's true, but sometimes there is no wrong at all to put yourself in a positive mind. At least positive thinking good for your health.. :)

A friend of mine, Helen said October is a month of exam and all I was thinking is about kids at school since they usually will be having their school exams in October. You know..school, final exam , monthly test and etc..

Instead Helen told me, the exam is for all of us. I wonder what is she talking about..

She impressed me with this explanation,

" October is a time for exam, November will be a time for looking at the result and December will be a time for reflections and then we celebrate.. :) "

Thanks Helen for the beautiful reminder.. And I told myself I am going to do this. So that Christmas celebration will be more meaningful this year.. :)

Sometimes you need a friend to help you to remember things like these apart from your family and relatives..

Praise GOD for all the blessing He has given us. GOD bless everyone of us.

By the way, I still remember September's best going places. I went to 3 places where i suggest you to come by. I thought this is the best must-visit place in Sabah. If you need a weekend getaway, you can come and have a visit here.. The view is absolutely fantastic.

1. Kinabalu Pine Resort
2. DreamWorld Resort
3. Desa Cattle

Okay, will blog out about that for the next post including plenty of pictures. :D

Have a blessed Friday everyone.

Till then, see you in next post. :)
